Blackline Mfg founded in a one-room garage in Etna, CA
Founder Tom Black identifies a need for chemical filtration in the textile industry. Blackline Mfg. launches a filtration system for textile inks. Out of this comes a full line of Blackline Mfg. products.
2001
Company moves to Chico, CA
Production facility expands in size and the first full-time employee is hired. More than 15 new products are now included in Blackline Mfg.'s product line, and the first CNC router is added to the shop floor.
2003
the family business grows
Tom's youngest son, Jason Black, becomes a partner in the company. Blackline begins building copolymer tanks and truck bodies for the fire service industry.
2005
Company incorporates as MTECH, Inc.
MTECH, Inc. signals a new focus for the company, with diversified products in a range of market segments. MTECH builds its first complete Type 6 wildland fire truck.
2011
AIG Insurance Contracts with MTECH
AIG's Wildfire Protection Unit contracts with MTECH to build seven Quick Attack trucks, with a first-of-its kind Ultra High Pressure fire retardant applicator. MTECH PolyTough™ bodies equipped with Ultra High Pressure long-term fire retardant systems.
2012
MTECH launches THE QTAC product LINE
A homeowner calls and asks if we can build him a "fire truck for his UTV." Jason and Tom Black, along with then Business Development head, Wade Meith, launch QTAC, a product line of MTECH, Inc. QTAC UTV and truck firefighting skids debut with four products in the line-up.
2013
QTAC Fire Expansion
QTAC adds rescue and fire-rescue products to its line up. The EMS-R and 85EMS-C rescue and fire-rescue skids are launched.
2014
MTECH and QTAC Expand
The company expands from an 8,300 square-foot facility to 20,000 square feet, allowing for drastically increased production capacity.
2016
QTAC Partners with the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series
QTAC becomes an official partner of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, providing fire suppression equipment for the series' safety trucks. The QTAC 85R is built specifically for applications with Coldfire® fire suppressant.
2018
MTECH and QTAC Type 3 Trucks Designed
Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression contracts QTAC to build two, F-550 based Type 3 trucks for its fleet. A first of its kind, the dual-pump Type 3 debuts.
2019
QTAC Record Sales Year
The MTECH corporation and QTAC fire have their best year on record, and moves into offering complete UTV packages for first responders.
2020
QTAC Re-Brands
The QTAC product line is expanded to include all of MTECH's trucks and truck skids into its offerings. Customers now have the ability to source everything from a handheld CAF system all the way to a Type 3 fire truck within the QTAC brand.
