Selecting the Right Pump: A Comprehensive Guide to Fire Suppression with QTAC
When it comes to fire suppression, selecting the right pump is crucial. At QTAC, we engineer our skids and truck builds around pumps designed for specific firefighting needs—whether it’s initial attack, mop-up, or ultra-high-pressure knockdown. Here’s a look at the powerhouse lineup that keeps our units operating at peak performance.
For portable, quick-response fire suppression, the Koshin SEH-25L is the go-to pump for our QTAC 20S skid. Delivering 30 gallons per minute (GPM) at 47 psi, this compact pump is powered by the Honda GX25 engine, making it perfect for targeted operations where mobility is key.
When the job calls for a balance of flow and pressure, the Koshin SEH-40H steps up. Powered by the Honda GX160 engine, it delivers 73 GPM at 61 psi, making it ideal for mopping up hotspots and handling light suppression tasks. You’ll find this pump on many of our skids as the medium pressure option due to its dependability and efficiency.
For rapid knockdown, our QTAC Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) models rely on the CAT 6.7 GPM Triplex pump. Operating at a staggering 1,200 psi, this pump produces ultra-fine water droplets that maximize heat absorption for fast fire suppression. It’s the backbone of our QTAC 75UPH, built for high-intensity, fast-paced firefighting environments.
Our UTV skids demand high-pressure reliability, and the WATERAX VERSAX 6 delivers. Featured as our High Pressure option, this pump—powered by a Honda GX200 engine—offers 105 GPM at 120 psi, making it lightweight yet powerful enough for hotspot management, mop-up operations, and initial attacks. Fid this pump on the 85HP, and 85EMS-C to name a few.
Need more power? The WATERAX VERSAX 9—featured on our Tsunami Performance Truck skids and UTV skids as a upgrade option—boosts pressure to 150 psi, backed by the Honda GX270 engine with an optional electric start. Whether you’re suppressing flare-ups or covering rugged terrain, this pump gets the job done.
For serious wildland firefighting, the WATERAX STRIKER-II is our choice for the Tsunami Pro Skids. With a 13-horsepower Vanguard engine, this dual-stage centrifugal pump delivers 105 GPM at 230 psi, making it a top performer when drafting from ponds, rivers, or tanks.
Need even more pressure? The WATERAX STRIKER-III cranks it up to 345 psi, built for heavy-duty suppression operations.
The QTAC Super 3™ Type 3 truck features the WATERAX BB-4. Available in gasoline or diesel configurations, this multi-stage centrifugal pump delivers up to 106 GPM at 440 psi with a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard engine or a fuel-efficient Kubota D902 diesel option.
The WATERAX B2X, mounted on our QTAC SUPER 6™ Type 6 truck, pushes 300–310 GPM at 180–200 psi, providing unmatched flow and pressure for fire departments handling demanding suppression tasks.
At QTAC, we don’t just build fire suppression equipment—we build solutions designed to meet the toughest real-world conditions. Every pump is selected and integrated with care, ensuring reliability, performance, and ease of use for first responders in the field.
